Gauss Award 2018 conferred to Johannes Hofmann and Georg Hager

With the article “On the accuracy and usefulness of analytic energy models for contemporary multicore processors” based on a cooperation of the RRZE and the Chair for Computer Architecture of FAU, Johannes Hofmann and Georg Hager won the renowned “Gauss Award” of the Gauss Centre for Supercomputing. The work improves well known analytical models for the description of the runtime and energy consumption of program loops on multi-core processors, so that these parameters can be predicted with an normal error of less than 2%. The award was conferred to the authors as part of the ISC High Performance 2018, the leading conference for High Performance Computing (HPC) in the European Region, in june of 2018.
